• Description: A chain of products that can replace each other. For example, product A is substituted by product B due to changes in design, form, function, or manufacturing process. In a supersession chain there can be two possible directions of interchangeability: Forward interchangeable Products can only be substituted in one direction; for example, product A can only be substituted by product B A->B. Fully interchangeable Products can be substituted in both directions; for example, Product B can be substituted by product C and vice versa B<->C.
