  Characteristic propagation is a feature of the Characteristics-Dependent Planning (CDP) component of SAP's Supply Chain Management - Advanced Planner and Optimizer (SCM-APO). It allows for the automatic transfer of characteristics from one planning object to another. This means that when a characteristic is changed in one object, it will be automatically updated in all other objects that are linked to it. This helps to ensure that all objects have the same characteristics and that changes are reflected across the entire system. 
  
  How to use it: 
  Characteristic propagation can be enabled in the CDP component of SCM-APO. To do this, go to the “Characteristics” tab and select “Propagation”. Here, you can select which characteristics you want to propagate and which objects they should be propagated to. Once you have made your selections, click “Save” to enable characteristic propagation. 
  
  Tips & Tricks: 
  When setting up characteristic propagation, it is important to consider which characteristics should be propagated and which objects they should be propagated to. It is also important to consider how often the characteristics should be updated. For example, if a characteristic is only updated once a day, then it may not be necessary to propagate it every time it is changed.
