What is reserve account in SAP SBO - SAP Business One?


SAP Term: reserve account

  • Component Name: SAP Business One

  • Description: An account that is set up to make a balance sheet clearer by apportioning capital against future purchases, such as replacing equipment or estimates of bad debts. For example, left-over profit after dividends have been paid could go into this account. The balance is then carried forward to the following year to be considered, together with the profits for that year, for any additional dividends.

    A reserve account is a type of asset account in SAP Business One (SBO) that is used to store funds for future use. It is a non-current asset account, meaning that it is not intended to be used for day-to-day operations. Instead, it is used to store funds for long-term investments or other large purchases.
    
    How to Use It: 
    In SBO, reserve accounts are created and managed in the Chart of Accounts. To create a reserve account, select the “Create New Account” option from the Chart of Accounts menu. Select “Asset” as the account type and then select “Reserve” as the sub-type. Enter the name of the reserve account and any other relevant information. Once the account is created, funds can be transferred into it from other accounts in SBO. 
    
    Tips & Tricks: 
    It is important to note that reserve accounts are not intended to be used for day-to-day operations. They should only be used for long-term investments or other large purchases. Additionally, it is important to keep track of all transactions involving reserve accounts in order to ensure that funds are being used appropriately.
