What is overtime in SAP PT - Personnel Time Management?

SAP Term: overtime

  • Component: PT

  • Component Name: Personnel Time Management

  • Description: Time worked in addition to an employee's planned working time as defined in the employee's contract, collective agreement, or by legal regulations. Many agreements assume that times recognized as overtime are first approved internally. Overtime approvals can restrict the amount of overtime employees can work and when they can work overtime. The type and amount of overtime compensation also depend on these criteria. An employee's normal daily working time can be used to determine overtime. Daily working times can also be added over a period to determine the total overtime for a week or month.

  • Key Concepts:
Overtime is a feature of SAP Personnel Time Management (PT) that allows employees to work additional hours beyond their normal working hours. Overtime is typically used to cover unexpected absences or to complete urgent tasks. It is also used to reward employees for their hard work and dedication.

    How to use it:
In order to use the overtime feature, an employee must first be registered in the SAP system. Once registered, the employee can request overtime hours from their manager. The manager can then approve or reject the request. If approved, the overtime hours will be added to the employee’s time sheet and will be reflected in their pay.

    Tips & Tricks:
It is important to keep track of overtime hours as they can quickly add up and lead to overpayment if not monitored closely. Additionally, it is important to ensure that overtime is only used when absolutely necessary and not as a regular practice.
