What is preferred production version in SAP PP-PI - Production Planning for Process Industries?

SAP Term: preferred production version

  • Component: PP-PI

  • Component Name: Production Planning for Process Industries

  • Description: A production version for the same material as other production versions, but that is taken into account by material requirements planning. This production version might be considered because it is the most cost-effective or because it fulfills user-specific criteria better than other production versions. If, for example, the low total cost is the criterion, MRP normally only considers one production version. Customer-specific criteria, however, may result in more than one preferred production version.
