  • Key Concepts:
Preferred Plant is a feature in the IS-OIL-DS-MCO Marketing, Contract and Order Entry component of SAP. It allows users to assign a specific plant to a customer or material, so that when orders are created for that customer or material, the system automatically defaults to the preferred plant. This helps streamline the order entry process and reduce errors.

    How to use it:
To set up a preferred plant, go to the customer or material master data and select the “Preferred Plant” field. Enter the plant code of the desired plant and save the changes. Once this is done, when orders are created for that customer or material, the system will automatically default to the preferred plant.

    Tips & Tricks:
It is important to note that if a different plant is manually entered during order entry, it will override the preferred plant setting. Therefore, it is important to double check that the correct plant is being used before saving an order.
