What is interval document in SAP PM - Plant Maintenance?

  • Description: Special measurement document for counter reading transfer. In standard counter reading transfer, huge numbers of measurement documents are created. To reduce the database volume, you can use interval documents. Interval documents summarize the transferred counter readings for a time interval. In other words, the system uses the same measurement document to transfer counter readings for an object for as long as a piece of equipment is installed at the same functional location or in the same superior piece of equipment. This means that there is usually only one measurement document for each installation interval of a piece of equipment: this is the interval document. On transfer, the system does not create separate documents for the subordinate technical objects. Example A commercial aircraft is described in the SAP system as a hierarchical structure of technical objects functional locations and equipment.
