What is 'root certificate' in SAP MFG-PCO - Plant Connectivity?

root certificate - Overview

root certificate - Details

  • Key Concepts: A root certificate is a digital certificate issued by a trusted certificate authority (CA) that is used to identify the root of a public key infrastructure (PKI). It is the most trusted certificate in a PKI hierarchy and is used to sign other certificates. In SAP Manufacturing Plant Connectivity (MFG-PCO), the root certificate is used to authenticate the connection between the plant and the SAP system.
How to use it: The root certificate must be installed on both the plant and the SAP system in order for the connection to be authenticated. The root certificate must be installed on the plant first, followed by the installation of the SAP system's root certificate. Once both certificates are installed, they must be configured to trust each other.
Tips & Tricks: It is important to ensure that the root certificates are kept up-to-date in order to maintain a secure connection between the plant and SAP system. It is also important to ensure that only authorized personnel have access to the root certificates.
Related Information: For more information on how to install and configure root certificates for MFG-PCO Plant Connectivity, please refer to SAP's documentation on the topic.
