What is dynamic break in SAP LOD-SF-EC - Employee Central?

SAP Term: dynamic break

  • Component: LOD-SF-EC

  • Component Name: Employee Central

  • Description: A break specified in an employee's work schedule defined by the duration of the break and by the 'waiting period' that must elapse before the break can start. This 'waiting period' until a dynamic break can start is calculated from the start times and durations of all attendance times scheduled working time plus overtime, minus the durations of all other breaks overlapping with these attendances. For example, you can define a day model for a non-working day that has no scheduled working time, but includes a 30 minute dynamic break to be taken after 4 hours of working time when recorded for this day - all of which would be overtime in this example. Breaks do not count as an employee's working time and are not compensated unless legal regulations, collective agreements, contracts or other provisions specify that they should.

  • Key Concepts:
Dynamic break is a feature in SAP Employee Central that allows users to create and manage break rules for employees. It enables users to define different break rules for different employee groups, such as full-time, part-time, and temporary employees. The rules can be set up to automatically adjust the break times based on the employee's working hours.

    How to use it:
To use dynamic break, users must first create a break rule in the system. This can be done by selecting the “Create Break Rule” option from the Employee Central menu. From there, users can define the parameters of the rule, such as the type of break (e.g., lunch, rest), duration, and frequency. Once the rule is created, it can be applied to specific employee groups or all employees in the system.

    Tips & Tricks:
When creating a break rule, it is important to consider the needs of each employee group. For example, part-time employees may need shorter breaks than full-time employees. Additionally, it is important to ensure that the break times are adjusted according to changes in working hours.
