  • Key Concepts:
Change hierarchy is a feature of SAP's Engineering Change Management (LO-ECH) component that allows users to organize and manage changes to engineering documents. It provides a hierarchical structure for organizing changes, allowing users to easily identify and track changes. The hierarchy consists of three levels: change type, change number, and change version.

    How to use it:
To use the change hierarchy, users must first create a change type. This is the highest level of the hierarchy and is used to categorize changes. For example, a user might create a change type for “Design Changes” or “Manufacturing Changes”. Once the change type is created, users can then create a change number within that type. This is used to identify the specific change being made. Finally, users can create a change version within the change number. This is used to track different versions of the same change as it progresses through its lifecycle.

    Tips & Tricks:
When creating a new change type, it is important to consider how it will be used in the future. Think about how many different types of changes will need to be tracked and how they should be organized. This will help ensure that the hierarchy is easy to use and understand.
