When the data in an outport changes, the CHIP transfers the new data to runtime, that is, it fires an outport event. The runtime ensures that data exists in an inport from the connection definition and from the data in the relevant outports. If the data in an inport changes, the runtime sends an event to the relevant CHIP. The event handler of the CHIP can change the internal status of the CHIP, and can itself fire the outport event of one or more of its outports.
