What is wiring in SAP BC-WD-ABA - Web Dynpro ABAP?

SAP Term: wiring

  • Component: BC-WD-ABA

  • Component Name: Web Dynpro ABAP

  • Description: A connection enabling data to be transported from the output parameters of a Web Dynpro CHIP to the inport parameters of another Web Dynpro CHIP. Each port can be seen as a plug of a Web Dynpro CHIP where data is held. Parameters and cardinality of the port describe the structure of the data. When the data in an outport changes, the CHIP transfers the new data to runtime, that is, it fires an outport event. The runtime ensures that data exists in an inport from the connection definition and from the data in the relevant outports. If the data in an inport changes, the runtime sends an event to the relevant CHIP. The event handler of the CHIP can change the internal status of the CHIP, and can itself fire the outport event of one or more of its outports.

  • Key Concepts:
Wiring is a feature of the BC-WD-ABA Web Dynpro ABAP component that allows developers to connect different UI elements together. It enables developers to create complex user interfaces with minimal coding. Wiring allows developers to create connections between UI elements, such as buttons, text fields, and tables, and then define the behavior of those elements when they are interacted with.

    How to use it:
To use wiring, developers must first create a connection between two UI elements. This is done by selecting the source element and then the target element. Once the connection is established, developers can then define the behavior of the target element when it is interacted with. This can be done by setting properties such as visibility, enabled/disabled state, and data binding.

    Tips & Tricks:
When using wiring, it is important to remember that the source element must be selected before the target element. This ensures that the connection is established correctly. Additionally, it is important to ensure that all properties are set correctly for each element in order for the desired behavior to be achieved.
