  • Key Concepts:
A shadow table is a table in SAP that stores data from a source table. It is used to store data temporarily during an upgrade process. The shadow table is created with the same structure as the source table, but with different names. The data from the source table is then copied into the shadow table.

    How to use it:
Shadow tables are used during an upgrade process to ensure that the data in the source table is not lost or corrupted during the upgrade. The data from the source table is copied into the shadow table, and then the upgrade process is performed on the shadow table. Once the upgrade process is complete, the data from the shadow table is copied back into the source table.

    Tips & Tricks:
When using a shadow table, it is important to ensure that all of the data from the source table has been successfully copied into the shadow table before beginning the upgrade process. This will help to ensure that no data is lost or corrupted during the upgrade process.

    Related Information:
Shadow tables are part of SAP's Upgrade Management Tool (UMT). UMT is a tool used to manage and automate SAP upgrades. It helps to ensure that upgrades are performed correctly and efficiently, and helps to reduce downtime associated with upgrades.
