Component Name: Workbench Tools: Editors, Painters, Modelers
Description: Package not transported to other systems The transport attributes of a package are determined by its assignment to a transport layer and a software component. Local packages are assigned to software component LOCAL but are not assigned to a transport layer. Temporary package $TMP, in particular, is a local package. Repository objects from local packages are not generally designed for productive purposes but solely for local developments as part of prototyping or testing. Unless configured otherwise in the system settings, the package check treats local packages in exactly the same way as non-local packages. Local packages are fundamentally different from packages that can be transported within a system landscape but are not designated for external delivery to customers. Packages of this type are assigned to software component HOME and to a transport layer. The Transport Organizer records all changes to these objects.
Key Concepts: A local package is a type of package in the SAP Workbench Tools. It is used to store and manage objects that are related to a specific project or task. It is a container for objects that are created, modified, or deleted within the Workbench Tools. How to use it: To create a local package, open the Workbench Tools and select the “Create Local Package” option. Enter a name for the package and select the objects that you want to include in it. Once the package is created, you can add, modify, or delete objects within it. Tips & Tricks: When creating a local package, make sure to give it a descriptive name so that you can easily identify it later on. You can also add comments to each object in the package to provide additional information about it.
