Component: BC-DWB-TOO-PAK
Component Name: Package Tools
Description: The repository objects visible in a package can be propagated from the package interface of a subpackage to interfaces of superpackages. By means of propagation, you can extend the visibility of repository objects from a subpackage upwards, over several levels within a package hierarchy. The number of such hierarchy levels determines exactly the propagation level. In particular, the propagation level 0 means that the repository object is directly exposed in the package interface no propagation. Accordingly, the propagation level 3, for example, means that the visibility of the object in question is extended by means of propagationof entire package interfaces over 3 levels from the inside upwards in the package hierarchy.
Key Concepts: Propagation level is a concept used in the SAP Package Tools component (BC-DWB-TOO-PAK). It is a way of controlling the scope of changes made to an SAP system. It defines which objects are affected by a change and which objects remain unaffected. How to use it: Propagation level can be set when making changes to an SAP system. It can be set to either “local” or “global”. When set to “local”, only the objects in the current package are affected by the change. When set to “global”, all objects in the system are affected by the change. Tips & Tricks: When making changes to an SAP system, it is important to consider the propagation level carefully. Setting it too low may result in changes not being applied correctly, while setting it too high may cause unintended changes to other parts of the system. Related Information: For more information on propagation level and how it works, please refer to the SAP Help documentation for Package Tools (BC-DWB-TOO-PAK).
