What is propagation in SAP BC-DWB-TOO-PAK - Package Tools?

SAP Term: propagation

  • Component: BC-DWB-TOO-PAK

  • Component Name: Package Tools

  • Description: Exposure of visible repository objects from subpackages or external packages to a package interface The repository objects visible in the package itself can be propagated from the package interface of a subpackage to interfaces of superpackages. The objects in question can be propagated to package interfaces or client interfaces. A visible repository object of an external package can only be propagated to a package interface if the relevant usage type has been exposed on at least one package interface of the external package with property "For propagation in package interfaces". If an object that is exposed on a package interface and can only be used in conjunction with its entire definition environment is propagated to another interface, its definition environment is also propagated implicitly if the outbound interface is closed. In addition to propagating individual repository objects to a package interface, it is also possible to propagate an entire package interface.

Smart SAP Assistant

  • Key Concepts:
Propagation is a feature of the SAP Package Tools component (BC-DWB-TOO-PAK) that allows users to quickly and easily move objects from one system to another. This feature is especially useful when dealing with large amounts of data or objects that need to be moved between multiple systems.

    How to use it:
To use the propagation feature, users must first select the objects they wish to move. This can be done by selecting the objects in the SAP Package Tools component or by using the “Select Objects” option in the menu. Once the objects have been selected, users can then choose the target system they wish to move the objects to. The propagation feature will then move the selected objects to the target system.

    Tips & Tricks:
When using the propagation feature, it is important to ensure that all of the necessary objects are selected before beginning the process. Additionally, users should also make sure that they have all of the necessary permissions and access rights in order to move the objects between systems.

    Related Information:
For more information on how to use the propagation feature, users can refer to SAP’s official documentation on Package Tools (BC-DWB-TOO-PAK). Additionally, users can also find helpful tutorials and videos online that provide step-by-step instructions on how to use this feature.
