  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message X4237 - Added item is not contained in an active integration model ?

The SAP error message X4237, which states "Added item is not contained in an active integration model," typically occurs in the context of SAP's integration with other systems, particularly in scenarios involving the integration of master data or transactional data between SAP and external systems (like SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, or other third-party applications).

    Cause:

The error is usually caused by one of the following reasons:

    1. Missing Integration Model: The item you are trying to add (such as a material, customer, or vendor) is not included in any active integration model. Integration models define which data is to be transferred between systems.

    2. Inactive Integration Model: The integration model that should include the item is not active. Integration models need to be activated for the data transfer to occur.

    3. Incorrect Configuration: There may be a configuration issue where the item type is not correctly set up in the integration model.

    4. Data Not Yet Replicated: The item may not have been replicated to the system where the integration model is defined.

    Solution:

To resolve the error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Integration Model:

      • Go to the transaction code CIF (Core Interface) in SAP.
      • Check the active integration models to see if the item in question is included.
      • If the item is not included, you may need to create or modify an integration model to include it.
    2. Activate Integration Model:

      • If the integration model exists but is inactive, activate it using the transaction code CIF or through the relevant configuration settings.
    3. Update Integration Model:

      • If the item type is not included in the integration model, you can add it. This may involve modifying the existing model or creating a new one.
    4. Replicate Data:

      • Ensure that the item has been replicated to the system where the integration model is defined. You may need to trigger a replication process if the item was recently created.
    5. Consult Documentation:

      • Review SAP documentation or consult with your SAP Basis or functional team for specific details on how to manage integration models in your environment.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as CIF, CIF1, and CIF2 for managing integration models.
    • Integration Model Types: Understand the different types of integration models (e.g., for materials, customers, vendors) and their specific configurations.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address known issues or provide additional guidance on this error message.
    • Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to SAP support or your internal SAP support team for further assistance.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the cause of the error and implement the necessary solutions to resolve it.
