WXP286 Planning step &2 is not defined for automatic planning
Cause:
This error occurs when the system tries to execute automatic planning (e.g., in production planning or capacity planning) using a planning step that has not been configured or activated for automatic planning in the system.
In SAP, planning steps define the stages or phases in the planning process (e.g., rough-cut planning, detailed planning). Each planning step can be configured to allow manual or automatic planning. If a planning step is not set up for automatic planning, and the system attempts to use it in an automatic planning run, this error is triggered.
Solution:
Check Planning Step Configuration:
- Go to transaction OPPR (or navigate via IMG:
Logistics ? Production ? Production Planning ? Master Data ? Define Planning Steps
).- Find the planning step mentioned in the error message (the placeholder
&2
will be replaced by the actual planning step in your system).- Verify if the planning step is flagged for automatic planning.
Activate Planning Step for Automatic Planning:
- If the planning step is not set for automatic planning, activate the checkbox "Automatic planning allowed" or similar option.
- Save your changes.
Check Planning Profile:
- Sometimes, the planning profile assigned to the material or plant may restrict the use of certain planning steps.
- Verify the planning profile settings to ensure the planning step is valid for the process.
