  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message WXP139 - Delete all planning steps and links ?

    SAP Error Message:
WXP139 - Delete all planning steps and links

    Cause:

This warning message appears in SAP when you attempt to delete or modify a planning object (such as a planning version, planning layout, or planning area) that still has dependent planning steps or links associated with it. The system requires that all dependent planning steps and links be deleted first before you can proceed with the deletion or modification of the main planning object.

In other words, the planning object you want to delete is still referenced by other planning steps or links, and these dependencies must be removed to maintain data integrity.

    Explanation:

    • Planning Steps: These are individual steps or phases in the planning process within SAP (e.g., in SAP BW Integrated Planning).
    • Links: These are connections or references between planning steps or between planning objects.
    • If you try to delete a planning object that is still linked to these steps or links, SAP prevents the deletion to avoid orphaned references or inconsistent planning data.

    Solution:

    1. Identify Dependent Planning Steps and Links:

      • Use transaction codes or SAP BW Integrated Planning tools to list all planning steps and links associated with the planning object.
      • For example, in SAP BW Integrated Planning, you can use the Planning Administration or Planning Modeler to view dependencies.
    2. Delete or Remove All Planning Steps and Links:

      • Navigate to each planning step or link that references the planning object.
      • Delete these planning steps and links carefully.
      • Ensure that no other critical dependencies exist before deletion.
    3. Delete the Planning Object:

      • Once all dependent planning steps and links are removed, retry deleting the planning object.
      • The system should now allow the deletion without issuing the WXP139 warning.
    4. Check Authorizations:

      • Ensure you have the necessary authorizations to delete planning steps, links, and planning objects.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:

      • RSPLAN – Planning Administration
      • RSPLS – Planning Steps Maintenance
      • RSPLINK – Planning Links Maintenance
    • SAP Notes and Documentation:

      • Refer to SAP BW Integrated Planning guides for detailed steps on managing planning steps and links.
      • SAP Note related to planning object deletion issues might provide additional troubleshooting tips.
    • Best Practices:

      • Always backup planning data before deleting planning steps or objects.
      • Document dependencies before deletion to avoid accidental loss of important planning configurations.
      • Perform deletions during maintenance windows to avoid disruption.

    Summary:

WXP139 is a warning that prevents deletion of a planning object until all associated planning steps and links are deleted. To resolve it, identify and delete all dependent planning steps and links first, then proceed with deleting the planning object.

If you need help with specific steps or transaction navigation, please provide details about the SAP module or planning scenario you are working with.
