  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

In the BW system, a check of negative balances is flagged in
customizing. The purpose of this is that the reference data for RMA
valuation levels (combinations of plants and RMA objects), with negative
balances (for example, negative stock) are reset to zero, and therefore
those RMA valuation levels do not receive a portion of the cost alloc
ation. The system knows that for the given RMA valuation levels, no
reference data are available in BW for carrying out this check of
    negative balances.

    System Response

Cost allocation is not carried out.

    How to fix this error?

Check the general settings for RMA in the BW system. There, the InfoCube
is specified which serves as a basis for the check of negative balances.
Check if data have been uploaded to that InfoCube.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message WRMA_CAT021 - No reference data found for check of negative balances ?

    SAP Error Message:
WRMA_CAT021 No reference data found for check of negative balances

    Cause:

This error occurs in SAP Warehouse Management (WM) or Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) when the system attempts to perform a check for negative stock balances but cannot find the necessary reference data (such as configuration or master data) required to carry out this validation.

Specifically, the system is trying to validate whether a movement or posting would result in a negative stock balance, but the relevant customizing or reference tables that define how this check should be performed are missing or incomplete.

    Common causes include:

    • Missing or incomplete configuration in the negative stock check settings.
    • Missing entries in the reference tables that control negative stock checks.
    • Incorrect or missing movement type or stock type configuration related to negative stock validation.
    • Customizing for the warehouse number or storage type is incomplete or not maintained.

    Solution:

    1. Check Customizing for Negative Stock Checks:

      • Go to transaction SPRO ? Logistics Execution ? Warehouse Management ? Strategies ? Define Negative Stock Check.
      • Verify that the negative stock check is properly configured for the relevant warehouse number, storage type, and movement types.
      • Ensure that the reference data for the negative stock check exists and is correctly maintained.
    2. Maintain Reference Data:

      • If the reference data is missing, create the necessary entries for the warehouse number, storage type, and movement types involved.
      • This may involve maintaining tables such as:
        • LAGP (Storage bin master data)
        • Negative stock check customizing tables (specific to your SAP version and WM/EWM module).
    3. Check Movement Type Configuration:

      • Verify that the movement types used in the transaction are correctly configured to allow or disallow negative stock.
      • This is done in transaction OMJJ or via SPRO under Warehouse Management ? Movement Types.
    4. Review User Exits or Enhancements:

      • If custom code or user exits are involved in the stock check process, ensure they are not causing the missing reference data issue.
    5. Perform Consistency Checks:

      • Run consistency checks or reports to identify missing or inconsistent master data related to stock and warehouse management.

    Related Information:

    • This error is typically encountered during goods movements, transfer postings, or warehouse tasks that involve stock quantity changes.
    • Negative stock checks are important to prevent inventory inconsistencies and ensure accurate stock levels.
    • Depending on your SAP system (classic WM or EWM), the exact customizing paths and tables may differ.
