- Material category of original mat. & and follow-up mat. & not identical ?The SAP error message WRF_FOLUPART052 indicates that there is a mismatch between the material categories of the original material and the follow-up material in a process related to material management, such as a follow-up purchase order or a material substitution scenario. This error typically arises in the context of material master data management, particularly when dealing with material types and categories.
Cause:
- Material Category Mismatch: The original material and the follow-up material belong to different material categories. For example, one might be a finished product while the other is a raw material or a semi-finished product.
- Configuration Issues: The system may be configured in such a way that it does not allow certain types of materials to be substituted or followed up with others that do not share the same category.
- Data Entry Errors: There may have been an error during data entry or material creation that led to the incorrect assignment of material categories.
Solution:
- Check Material Categories: Verify the material categories of both the original and follow-up materials. You can do this by navigating to the material master data in SAP (Transaction Code: MM03) and checking the relevant views.
- Align Material Categories: If the materials are intended to be interchangeable, consider changing the material category of one of the materials to match the other. This may involve updating the material master data.
- Review Configuration Settings: If the mismatch is due to system configuration, consult with your SAP MM (Materials Management) consultant to review the settings related to material types and categories.
- Create a New Follow-Up Material: If changing the material category is not feasible, you may need to create a new follow-up material that matches the category of the original material.
- Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or help resources for any specific guidelines related to material categories and follow-up processes.
