What causes this issue?

The characteristic is no longer available in the system because it was
deleted. When a characteristic is deleted, the characteristic values and
characteristic value groups remain in the database.

System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

How to fix this error?

If you want to completely delete the characteristic values <ZH>or</>
characteristic value groups, use the <ZH>respective pushbuttons</>.
If you want to completely delete the characteristic values <ZH>and</>
the characteristic value groups, start <ZH>deletion program
RWRF_CHARVAL_REORG</>.

  This error occurs when a characteristic that was previously used in a configuration, variant, or classification no longer exists in the system. This typically happens if the characteristic has been deleted or is no longer active in the system, but references to it still remain in objects such as:
  
  Variant configurations
  Classification assignments
  Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  Master data or configuration profiles
  
  The system tries to access or validate this characteristic but cannot find it, leading to the error.
  
  
  Solution:
  
  
  Identify the missing characteristic:
  The error message will show the characteristic name (in place of &1). Note down this characteristic.
  
  
  Check where the characteristic is used:  
  
  Use transaction CL20N (Display Object Dependencies) or CL30N (Display Class) to find where the characteristic is assigned.
  Check variant configuration models (CU50, CU53) or classification data where the characteristic might be referenced.
  Check if the characteristic is part of any BOM
