What causes this issue?

In the grid for planned quantities, you can add characteristic values
only to generic materials. However, the selected material &V1& is (a)
&V2&.

System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

How to fix this error?

For materials other than generic materials, you can only maintain
planned quantities on the purchasing list item level.
