This can happen for various reasons, including system configuration issues, resource limitations, or problems with the underlying infrastructure.
Causes:
- System Configuration Issues: Incorrect settings in the SAP system configuration can lead to the runtime environment being unable to start.

- Review Logs: Check the system logs (transaction SM21) and developer traces (transaction ST22) for any error messages or warnings that could provide more context on why the runtime system stopped.
- Restart the System: If the issue is temporary, restarting the SAP system or the affected application server may resolve the problem.
- Check Resource Availability: Ensure that the server has enough resources (CPU, memory, disk space) available. You may need to allocate more resources or optimize existing usage.
- Database Connection: Verify that the database is up and running and that the connection settings in the SAP system are correct.
- Network Configuration: Ensure that there are no network issues preventing communication between the SAP application server and the database or other components.
