How To Fix VW114 - Leg determination has not been carried out (no destination)

SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: VW - Shipment Processing Output

  • Message number: 114

  • Message text: Leg determination has not been carried out (no destination)

  • Show details Hide details
  • You tried to determine legs for a shipment which has the leg indicator
    'preliminary leg'.
Usually, this kind of preliminary leg shipment does not end at the
actual destination of the deliveries (for example, the ship-to
parties). It ends at a transportation connection point where the goods
are reloaded onto a means of transport for the main leg shipment (for
example, the port where the goods are loaded onto a ship).
You should either specify this destination manually (only possible in
the 'create shipment' (VT01) or 'change shipment' (VT02) transactions,
because at least one of the deliveries of the current preliminary leg
shipment is in a main leg shipment.
The target destination was not entered manually and could not be
determined by the system so the legs were not determined.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message VW114 - Leg determination has not been carried out (no destination) ?

The SAP error message VW114, which states "Leg determination has not been carried out (no destination)," typically occurs in the context of logistics and transportation management within SAP. This error indicates that the system is unable to determine the transportation legs for a shipment because no destination has been specified.

    Cause:

    1. Missing Destination: The most common cause of this error is that the destination for the shipment has not been defined in the system. This could be due to missing or incorrect data in the shipment document.
    2. Incomplete Master Data: The master data for the relevant transportation lanes, routes, or locations may be incomplete or not properly maintained.
    3. Configuration Issues: There may be issues with the configuration settings related to transportation management, such as missing settings for leg determination.
    4. Document Status: The shipment document may be in a status that does not allow for leg determination to be processed.

    Solution:

    1. Check Destination: Ensure that the destination is correctly specified in the shipment document. You can do this by reviewing the shipment details and confirming that all necessary fields are filled out.
    2. Review Master Data: Verify that the master data for the relevant locations, transportation lanes, and routes is complete and accurate. This includes checking the following:
      • Customer and vendor master data
      • Material master data
      • Transportation lanes and routes
    3. Leg Determination Configuration: Check the configuration settings for leg determination in the SAP system. Ensure that the necessary settings are in place for the system to perform leg determination.
    4. Document Status: Make sure that the shipment document is in a status that allows for leg determination. If the document is incomplete or in a locked status, it may prevent the system from processing it correctly.
    5. Reprocess the Shipment: After making the necessary corrections, try to reprocess the shipment to see if the leg determination can now be carried out successfully.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: You may need to use transaction codes such as VT01N (Create Shipment), VT02N (Change Shipment), or VT03N (Display Shipment) to access and modify shipment documents.
