What causes this issue?

The procedure contains an invalid derivation: The specified
characteristic is not assigned to the target object.
This characteristic is, however, assigned to another object of the
knowlege base.

System Response

If the invalid derivation is processed, this can lead to runtime error
'exc_not_found' in the IPC configurator engine.

How to fix this error?

Check if the derivation for the specified characteristic is really
required here. If so, assign the characteristic to the target object or
one of its superclasses. For reference characteristics, see SAP Note
445117, which contains recommendations for assigning characteristics to
classes for IPC configuration.
