How To Fix VQ293 - Info structure only updated asynchronously

SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: VQ - SD Archiving and Product Allocation

  • Message number: 293

  • Message text: Info structure only updated asynchronously

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The update to info structure &v2& is independent (Level 2 update) of
    the order update.

    System Response

During asynchronous updates, errors during the update do not influence
    the order update.
For this reason, product allocation usage can be entered considerably
later in the info structure, when the temporary blocks to the
allocation quantity have been removed. The temporary blocks of the
allocation quantities are removed when the order is saved. The used
allocation quantities are then no longer blocked. Overusage can occur.

    How to fix this error?

We recommend that you carry out update to the order entry quantities
for product allocation synchronously with the order, as this belongs to
    the operative business transaction.

Smart SAP Assistant

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message VQ293 - Info structure only updated asynchronously ?

Certainly! Here's a detailed explanation regarding the SAP error message VQ293: Info structure only updated asynchronously:

SAP Message: VQ293 - Info structure only updated asynchronously

    Meaning / Cause:

The message VQ293 indicates that the Info Structure (usually related to Sales and Distribution (SD) or Logistics Information System (LIS)) is not updated immediately (synchronously) during the transaction but instead is updated asynchronously in the background.

This typically happens because the system is configured to update the info structures via background jobs or batch input sessions rather than during the online transaction processing. This design is intentional to improve performance and reduce the response time of the transaction.

    When does this occur?

    • When you post a document (e.g., sales order, delivery, billing) and the system triggers an update to the info structure.
    • The update is not done immediately but scheduled for later processing.
    • The message is informational, not an error, indicating that the update will happen asynchronously.

    Why is it done asynchronously?

    • Info structures can contain large volumes of data.
    • Synchronous updates can slow down transaction processing.
    • Asynchronous updates allow the system to process info structure updates in the background without impacting user experience.

    Solution / How to handle:

    • No immediate action is required if the message is informational.
    • Ensure that the background job responsible for updating the info structures is scheduled and running properly.
      • The job name is usually something like RSDI_UPDATE_INFOSYSTEM or similar, depending on your SAP version and configuration.
    • Check the status of the background job in transaction SM37.
    • If the job is not scheduled or has errors, schedule or troubleshoot the job.
    • If you want to force synchronous update (not recommended for performance reasons), you can adjust the update settings in the LIS or SD customizing, but this is rarely done.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction codes:
      • SM37 - Monitor background jobs.
      • V/73 - Maintain update rules for info structures.
      • RSDI_INFOPROV - Info provider maintenance.
    • Tables:
      • Info structures are stored in tables starting with S (e.g., S001, S002, etc.).
    • Notes and Documentation:
      • SAP Note related to info structure update performance.
      • SAP Help on Logistics Information System (LIS).
    • Performance Tip:
      • Asynchronous updates are recommended for high-volume systems.
      • Monitor background jobs regularly to ensure data consistency.

    Summary:

    • VQ293 is an informational message.
    • It informs that info structure updates are done asynchronously.
    • Check and maintain background jobs to ensure updates are processed.
    • No immediate error or problem unless background jobs fail.

If you want, I can help you with steps to check or schedule the background job or adjust settings related to info structure updates.
