VQ223 - Error while reading the structure of the info structure
Cause:
The error message VQ223 typically occurs during data extraction or reporting in SAP BW (Business Warehouse) when the system encounters an issue reading the metadata or structure of an InfoStructure (an older BW object used for reporting and analysis).
Common causes include:
- Inconsistent or corrupted InfoStructure metadata: The structure definition in the database or metadata repository might be inconsistent or corrupted.
- Missing or incorrect database tables: The underlying database tables for the InfoStructure might be missing or not properly generated.
- Transport or system copy issues: If the InfoStructure was transported from another system or after a system copy, some metadata might not have been correctly imported or activated.
- Authorization issues: The user executing the query or extraction might lack the necessary authorizations to read the InfoStructure.
- Version or patch inconsistencies: The BW system might have inconsistencies due to missing support packages or notes related to InfoStructure handling.
- Technical issues with the InfoStructure: For example, the InfoStructure might have been deleted or is in an inconsistent state.
Solution:
Check InfoStructure consistency:
- Use transaction RSDINFOVIEW or RSA1 to check the InfoStructure.
- Try to regenerate or activate the InfoStructure.
