  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The earliest possible pick date for the outbound delivery (&V2&) is
chronologically later than the goods issue date that was originally
    planned.

    System Response

Since the outbound delivery is not to be rescheduled (according to the
agreement), the shipping dates are taken from the order and not
redetermined. Therefore, the pick date that was originally planned and
then copied into the outbound delivery may be in the past.
However, make sure that the material staging data of the items is
redetermined in order to guarantee a correct availability check for
    materials.

    How to fix this error?

Make sure you account for the fact that the outbound delivery is overdue
when planning and carrying out other shipping activities.

    Procedure for System Administrators

In Customizing, you can <DS:SIMG.SIMG_CFMENUOLSDVOLF>define per delivery
type</> whether the shipping dates should be redetermined in the case of
    overdue deliveries.

The SAP error message VL256 indicates that an outbound delivery is on backorder, which means that the items in the delivery cannot be shipped because they are not available in the required quantity. This situation often arises when the shipping deadline has not been met, or when there are issues with stock availability.

    Cause:

    1. Stock Shortage: The most common reason for this error is that the required quantity of goods is not available in stock to fulfill the outbound delivery.

    Solution:

    1. Check Stock Availability: Verify the stock levels for the items in the outbound delivery. You can do this by checking the material document or stock overview in the SAP system.
    2. Adjust Shipping Deadline: If the shipping deadline has passed, you may need to adjust the delivery date or expedite the shipping process to meet the deadline.
    3. Release Backorder: If the items are on backorder, you can check the backorder processing settings and release the backorder once the stock is available.
    4. Review Delivery Blocks: Check if there are any delivery blocks on the outbound delivery. If there are, resolve the issues causing the block (e.g., credit limit exceeded, incomplete data).
    5. Reconfirm Delivery: After addressing the stock and deadline issues, you may need to reconfirm the delivery to process it again.
