  • Message text: Collision during editing of reprocessing records

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

Reprocessing records are being changed or deleted simultaneously by
    user &V1&.

    System Response

Saving your data would lead to inconsistencies, and has therefore been
    terminated.
    &EXPLANATION&
The system sets no locks for editing reprocessing records:
A global editor lock (at client level) would be too restrictive, as it
would block reprocessing in the whole system simply for one user
    reprocessing one record.
A lock at record level would be too performance-intensive in case of
    large worklists.
Since reprocessing records are usually incomplete, it is also
impossible to put a lock somewhere between client and record, such as
for returnable packaging account or location.
Therefore, the system allows simultaneous processing of reprocessing
records, checking only when saving whether overlaps in processing have
occurred. If this is so, saving is terminated.

    How to fix this error?

Make sure at business management level that you do not have a situation
where several users could process reprocessing records simultaneously.
For example, you can assign each user a separate work area in the form
    of selection variants.
Reprocessing records that are not assigned to any area of responsibilty
because the data is insufficient, should be processed separately.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message VHURL680 - Collision during editing of reprocessing records ?

The SAP error message VHURL680 indicates that there is a collision during the editing of reprocessing records in the system. This typically occurs in the context of handling data that is being processed or reprocessed, often in relation to the handling of documents or transactions that are being edited concurrently by multiple users or processes.

    Cause:

    1. Concurrent Editing: The most common cause of this error is that multiple users or processes are trying to edit the same record at the same time. This can lead to conflicts as the system cannot determine which changes should take precedence.
    2. Locking Mechanism: SAP uses a locking mechanism to prevent data inconsistencies. If a record is locked by one user, another user trying to edit the same record will encounter this error.
    3. Data Integrity Issues: There may be underlying data integrity issues that are causing the system to reject the changes.

    Solution:

    1. Check for Locks: Use transaction codes like SM12 to check for any locks on the records you are trying to edit. If you find locks, you may need to wait for the other user to finish or contact them to resolve the issue.
    2. Retry Editing: After confirming that no other user is editing the record, try to edit the record again.
    3. Review User Sessions: Ensure that no other sessions are open that might be accessing the same data. Close any unnecessary sessions.
    4. Data Consistency Check: If the issue persists, perform a data consistency check to ensure that there are no underlying issues with the data.
    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or support notes related to the specific module you are working with for any additional troubleshooting steps or known issues.
    6. Contact SAP Support: If the problem continues and you cannot identify the cause, consider reaching out to SAP support for further assistance.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as SM12 (to view locks), SM21 (to check system logs), and ST22 (to check dumps) for troubleshooting.
    • User Training: Ensure that users are trained on how to properly handle records to minimize the chances of concurrent editing issues.
    • System Configuration: Review system configuration settings related to data processing and locking mechanisms to ensure they are optimized for your business processes.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the VHURL680 error and prevent it from occurring in the future.
