Message text: Conversion of quantity failed
You are trying to construct a HU template according to a reference
packing instruction. Any attempt to convert the different units of
measure of the material to pack and the reference material, will cause
an error to occur.
The reason the conversion failed, is that the base unit of measure of
the reference material is not defined as a base unit of measure nor as
an alternative unit of measure for the material to pack. Therefore no
conversion is possible.
Add the base unit of measure of the reference material as an
alternative unit of measure in the material master for the material to
pack.

- Conversion of quantity failed ?The SAP error message VHUPD074: Conversion of quantity failed typically occurs in the context of handling quantities in SAP, particularly when there is an issue with converting units of measure (UoM) or when the system is unable to process a quantity due to data inconsistencies or configuration issues.
Causes:
- Incorrect Unit of Measure (UoM): The UoM specified for the quantity may not be valid or may not exist in the system.
- Missing Conversion Factors: If the system lacks the necessary conversion factors between different units of measure, it may fail to convert the quantity.
- Data Inconsistencies: There may be inconsistencies in the master data, such as incorrect material master records or unit of measure settings.
- Configuration Issues: The configuration settings for units of measure in the system may not be set up correctly.
- Decimal Notation Issues: If the quantity is entered with an incorrect decimal notation (e.g., using a comma instead of a period), it may lead to conversion failures.
Solutions:
- Check Unit of Measure: Verify that the UoM used in the transaction is valid and exists in the system. You can check this in the material master or the relevant configuration settings.
- Review Conversion Factors: Ensure that the necessary conversion factors between the UoMs are defined in the system. You can check this in the configuration settings for units of measure.
- Validate Master Data: Review the material master data for any inconsistencies or errors related to UoM settings. Make sure that the UoM is correctly assigned to the material.
- Configuration Review: Check the configuration settings for units of measure in the SAP system. This can be done through transaction codes like OME1 (for maintaining UoM) or OME2 (for defining conversion factors).
- Input Format: Ensure that the quantity is entered in the correct format, adhering to the system's requirements for decimal notation.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance related to the error message and its context.
