Message class: VBDRV - Derivation of Batch Characteristics
Message number: 049
Message text: Derivation &1 is invalid: Characteristic in batch &2 is being changed
Characteristics have been changed in batch &V2&.
However, characteristics were sent in derivation (no. &V1&).
Changing the characteristics means that a new derivation may not
correspond with the derivation &V1&.
The <DS:DE.DRVSTAT>status</> of the derivation no. &V1& is set to a
status that indicates that the derivation is no longer up-to-date.
Check the derivation and the values of the receiving batch.
Correct the receiving batch if necessary.
You can then convert the status of the derivation in the derivation
monitor.

This typically occurs in the context of batch management and can arise when there is an attempt to change a characteristic of a batch that is not allowed due to certain constraints or settings in the system.
Cause:
- Invalid Characteristic Change: The characteristic you are trying to change is not valid for the specified batch. This could be due to the batch being in a status that does not allow changes.

- Data Inconsistency: There could be inconsistencies in the data related to the batch or its characteristics.
Solution:
- Check Batch Status: Verify the status of the batch in question. If the batch is locked or in a status that does not allow changes, you may need to change its status or unlock it.
- Review Characteristic Settings: Ensure that the characteristic you are trying to change is allowed for the batch type and that it is correctly configured in the system.
- Use Correct Transaction: Make sure you are using the appropriate transaction or process to change the batch characteristics. Some changes may require specific transactions or authorizations.
- Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or configuration guides related to batch management and characteristic derivation to ensure compliance with system requirements.
- Check for User Exits or BAdIs: If there are any custom enhancements (user exits or BAdIs) that might be affecting the behavior of batch characteristics, review them to ensure they are not causing the issue.
