What causes this issue?

Note the following when assigning a financial reporting item as a contra
item: Both the financial reporting item as well as the contra item need
to be specified as contra items of each other.

How to fix this error?

You entered a contra item for this financial statement item. To offset
this, you need to enter the financial statement item as a contra item
for the account that is assigned as the contra item.

Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
