USMD_EDITION_GENERAL045
- Cannot upgrade editions: Zero Downtime Maintenance in process ?The SAP error message USMD_EDITION_GENERAL045 indicates that there is an issue with upgrading editions in the context of Zero Downtime Maintenance (ZDM). This error typically arises when an attempt is made to upgrade an edition while a Zero Downtime Maintenance process is already in progress.
Cause:
The primary cause of this error is that the system is currently undergoing a Zero Downtime Maintenance process, which prevents any edition upgrades from being executed simultaneously. ZDM is designed to allow for system updates without significant downtime, but it also imposes certain restrictions on operations that can be performed during the maintenance window.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:
Check ZDM Status: Verify if a Zero Downtime Maintenance process is currently running. You can do this by checking the system logs or using transaction codes related to ZDM monitoring.
Wait for Completion: If ZDM is in progress, you will need to wait until the process is completed. Once the ZDM process finishes, you should be able to proceed with the edition upgrade.
Review ZDM Configuration: If you frequently encounter this issue, review your ZDM configuration and scheduling to ensure that maintenance windows are appropriately planned and that edition upgrades are not scheduled during active ZDM processes.
Consult Documentation: Refer to the official SAP documentation for Zero Downtime Maintenance and edition upgrades for any specific guidelines or best practices that may apply to your situation.
Contact SAP Support: If the issue persists or if you are unsure about the status of the ZDM process, consider reaching out to SAP Support for assistance. They can provide insights based on your specific system configuration and logs.
Related Information:
By following these steps, you should be able to address the error and successfully perform the edition upgrade once the ZDM process is complete.
