  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message USMD2127 - Entity &2 of type &1 already exists in change request &3 ?

The SAP error message USMD2127 indicates that there is an attempt to create or modify an entity in a change request, but the entity already exists in that change request. This typically occurs in the context of SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) when working with change requests for master data entities.

    Cause:

The error is caused by one of the following scenarios:

    1. Duplicate Entry: The entity you are trying to create or modify already exists in the change request. This can happen if the same entity is added multiple times to the same change request.
    2. Incorrect Change Request Handling: The change request may not have been properly processed, leading to inconsistencies in the data.
    3. Data Locking Issues: There may be a locking issue where the entity is being accessed or modified by another user or process.

    Solution:

To resolve the error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Existing Entities: Review the change request to see if the entity already exists. If it does, you may need to modify the existing entry instead of trying to create a new one.

    2. Remove Duplicates: If you find that the entity is duplicated in the change request, remove the duplicate entry before proceeding.

    3. Review Change Request Status: Ensure that the change request is in the correct status for the operation you are trying to perform. If the change request is in a status that does not allow modifications, you may need to change its status.

    4. Check for Locks: Verify if the entity is locked by another user or process. If it is, you may need to wait until the lock is released or contact the user who has locked the entity.

    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance related to the version of SAP MDG you are using.

    6. Contact Support: If the issue persists and you cannot identify the cause, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting SAP Notes for any known issues related to this error.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any updates or patches that may address this issue.
    • MDG Configuration: Review the configuration settings in your MDG system to ensure that they are set up correctly for handling change requests.
    • User Authorization: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to create or modify entities in the change request.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the cause of the error and implement a solution to resolve it.
