  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message UPS525 - Object type &2 is already used in packets of type &1 ?

The SAP error message UPS525 indicates that an object of a certain type is already being used in packets of another type. This typically occurs in the context of SAP's transport management system (TMS) or when dealing with transport requests and change requests.

    Cause:

The error arises when you attempt to include an object (like a program, function module, or other development objects) in a transport request that is already included in another transport request of a different type. For example, if an object is already part of a workbench request, you cannot include it in a customizing request or another workbench request.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Identify the Object: Determine which object is causing the issue. The error message will specify the object type and name.

    2. Check Existing Transport Requests: Use transaction codes like SE01 (Transport Organizer) or SE09 (Workbench Organizer) to check the transport requests that currently include the object. Look for the object in both workbench and customizing requests.

    3. Remove from Other Requests: If the object is already included in a transport request, you may need to remove it from that request if it is appropriate to do so. This can be done by editing the transport request and removing the object.

    4. Use the Correct Transport Request: If the object needs to be transported, ensure that you are using the correct type of transport request. For example, if it is a development object, it should be included in a workbench request.

    5. Re-attempt the Transport: After making the necessary adjustments, try to include the object in the desired transport request again.

    Related Information:

    • Transport Management System (TMS): Understand how TMS works in SAP, including the different types of transport requests (Workbench requests and Customizing requests).
    • Transport Organizer Transactions: Familiarize yourself with transactions like SE01, SE09, and SE10 for managing transport requests.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any specific patches or updates related to transport issues, as there may be known issues or fixes available.

If the problem persists after following these steps, consider reaching out to your SAP Basis team or consulting SAP support for further assistance.
