  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message UMG370 - Reset/Restart not possible. Worker jobs are running. ?

The SAP error message UMG370, which states "Reset/Restart not possible. Worker jobs are running," typically occurs in the context of SAP's background processing or job management. This error indicates that there are active worker jobs that are preventing the reset or restart of a particular process or job.

    Cause:

    1. Active Worker Jobs: The primary cause of this error is that there are one or more worker jobs currently running in the background. These jobs may be processing data or performing tasks that are necessary for the system's operation.
    2. Job Dependencies: The job you are trying to reset or restart may have dependencies on other jobs that are still in progress.
    3. System Locking: The system may have locks in place due to ongoing processes, which prevents the reset or restart action.

    Solution:

To resolve the UMG370 error, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check Active Jobs:

      • Go to transaction code SM37 (Job Monitoring) to view the list of active background jobs.
      • Filter the jobs by user, status, or other criteria to identify the jobs that are currently running.
    2. Wait for Completion:

      • If the running jobs are expected to complete soon, you may choose to wait until they finish before attempting to reset or restart the job again.
    3. Terminate Jobs:

      • If the jobs are taking too long or are stuck, you may need to terminate them. You can do this in SM37 by selecting the job and choosing the option to cancel or delete it. Be cautious with this step, as terminating jobs may lead to data inconsistencies or loss.
    4. Check Job Dependencies:

      • Ensure that there are no dependencies that are preventing the job from being reset. If there are dependent jobs, you may need to address those first.
    5. System Lock Check:

      • If you suspect that system locks are causing the issue, you can check for locks using transaction code SM12. If you find any locks that are no longer needed, you can delete them.
    6. Consult Logs:

      • Review the job logs for any errors or warnings that might provide additional context on why the job cannot be reset or restarted.
