Message text: Inentory items: Items/product groups overlap
The combinations of items and product groups overlap.
For example, suppose you have defined that the range of product groups
PG1 to PG3 is assigned to item 100000. In this case, you can not at the
same time define that the range of product groups PG3 to PG5 is
assigned to item 110000. This is because product group PG3 would be
assigned to both items 100000 and 110000.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Make sure that no combinations of items and product groups overlap.

This error indicates that there is a conflict or overlap in the definitions of inventory items or product groups within the system. Cause:
Overlapping Product Groups: The error often arises when two or more product groups or items are defined in such a way that they overlap in terms of their classification or categorization. For example, if you have defined a product group for "Electronics" and another for "Mobile Phones," and if "Mobile Phones" is also included in "Electronics," this can lead to an overlap.

Configuration Issues: There may be issues in the configuration of the inventory management module, particularly in how product groups and items are defined and related.
Solution:
Review Product Group Definitions: Check the definitions of the product groups and items in the system. Ensure that there are no overlaps in the classifications. You may need to redefine the product groups to eliminate any conflicts.
Adjust Item Master Data: Review the item master data for the affected items. Ensure that each item is assigned to the correct product group without any overlaps.
Use Transaction Codes: Utilize relevant transaction codes (like MM02 for changing material master data) to make necessary adjustments to the product groups or item definitions.
Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for guidance on how to properly set up product groups and inventory items to avoid overlaps.
Testing: After making changes, perform tests to ensure that the error does not reoccur. This may involve creating new items or product groups to verify that the system behaves as expected.
