This error often arises in the context of user parameters, configuration settings, or when trying to execute a transaction that requires certain default values to be set.

    Cause:

    1. Missing Default Values: The most common cause is that the system is expecting a default value for a specific field (indicated by &2) in a certain context (indicated by &3), but it is not defined in the system.
    2. Configuration Issues: There may be a configuration issue where the necessary default values have not been set up in the relevant customizing settings.
    3. User Profile Settings: The user profile may not have the necessary parameters set, leading to the absence of default values.
    4. Data Inconsistencies: There could be inconsistencies in the master data or configuration data that prevent the system from retrieving the default values.

    Solution:

    1. Check Configuration Settings:

      • Navigate to the relevant customizing transaction (e.g., SPRO) and check if the default values for the specific field are defined correctly.

    2. Review User Parameters:

      • Go to the user profile settings (transaction SU01) and check if the user has the required parameters set. You can also check transaction SU3 for user parameters.
      • If necessary, set the appropriate default values for the user.
    3. Master Data Review:

      • Check the relevant master data records to ensure that they are complete and contain the necessary default values.
      • If the error occurs in a specific module (e.g., MM, SD), ensure that the relevant master data (like material master, customer master, etc.) is correctly maintained.
