Smart SAP Assistant

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message UC135 - &1 already being processed by &2 ?

The SAP error message UC135 indicates that a particular process or job is already being handled by another user or process. This typically occurs in scenarios where multiple users or processes attempt to access or modify the same resource simultaneously, leading to a conflict.

    Cause:

    1. Concurrent Processing: The most common cause is that the same job or transaction is being executed by another user or process.
    2. Locking Mechanism: SAP uses a locking mechanism to prevent data inconsistencies. If a process is already locked by another user, subsequent attempts to access it will trigger this error.
    3. Long-Running Processes: If a job takes a long time to complete, other users may attempt to start the same job, resulting in this error.
    4. System Configuration: Misconfiguration in job scheduling or resource allocation can also lead to this error.

    Solution:

    1. Wait and Retry: If the process is being executed by another user, wait for it to complete and then try again.
    2. Check Active Processes: Use transaction codes like SM50 or SM66 to monitor active processes and identify if the job is indeed running.
    3. Terminate the Process: If you have the necessary authorizations and determine that the process is stuck or should not be running, you can terminate it using transaction SM50 or SM66.
    4. Review Job Scheduling: If this error occurs frequently, review the job scheduling and ensure that jobs are not overlapping unnecessarily.
    5. Lock Management: Investigate the locking mechanism in place. You can use transaction SM12 to check for locks and release them if necessary.
    6. Consult Documentation: Review SAP notes or documentation related to the specific transaction or job to see if there are known issues or patches available.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:

      • SM50: Monitor processes.
      • SM66: Global overview of processes.
      • SM12: Display and manage locks.
      • SM37: Monitor job status.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP's support portal for any relevant notes that might address this specific error or provide additional troubleshooting steps.
