This error often occurs in the context of number range management, particularly when the system is trying to assign a number from a range that has not been properly defined or configured.
Cause:
- Incorrect Number Range Configuration: The number range object (in this case, RP_TRCRLNR) may not have been set up correctly in the system. This could include missing upper or lower limits, or the limits may not be in the correct order (i.e., the lower limit is greater than the upper limit).
- Number Range Exhaustion: If the number range is exhausted (i.e., all numbers in the range have been used), the system will not be able to assign a new number.
- Authorization Issues: Sometimes, the user may not have the necessary authorizations to access or modify the number range configuration.
Solution:
Check Number Range Configuration:
- Go to transaction code SNRO (Number Range Objects).
- Enter the object name (RP_TRCRLNR) and click on "Change".
- Verify that the number range intervals are correctly defined, including both the lower and upper limits. Ensure that the lower limit is less than the upper limit.
- If necessary, create a new interval or adjust the existing one to ensure it is valid.
Check for Exhaustion:
- If the number range is exhausted, you may need to extend the range by adding a new interval or increasing the upper limit of the existing interval.
Authorization Check:
- Ensure that the user has the necessary authorizations to access and modify number range configurations. This may involve checking roles and authorizations in transaction PFCG.
Testing:
- After making changes, test the functionality that was causing the error to ensure that the issue has been resolved.
