Message text: Object directory entry cannot be deleted, since the object is distributed
You cannot delete the object directory entry &V1& &V2& &V3&, since the
object has its original location in this SAP system, and is already
distributed to other SAP systems.
The action is terminated.
Check whether the object no longer exists in this SAP system. If this is
the case, transport the deletion into the subsequent system.
To transport the deletion, enter the object &V1& &V2& &V3& in a
transport request, and then release it. When the request is released,
the object directory entry will be deleted automatically.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

TR024
- Object directory entry cannot be deleted, since the object is distributed ?The SAP error message TR024 indicates that an object directory entry cannot be deleted because the object is distributed. This typically occurs in the context of transport management in SAP, where objects (like programs, function modules, etc.) are transported between different SAP systems (e.g., from development to quality assurance or production).
Cause:
The error occurs for the following reasons:
- Distributed Objects: The object you are trying to delete is part of a transport request that has already been distributed to other systems. This means that the object exists in multiple systems, and SAP prevents deletion to maintain consistency across those systems.
- Transport Request Status: The transport request containing the object may still be in a status that does not allow for deletion (e.g., it is released or has been imported into other systems).
- Dependencies: The object may have dependencies on other objects that are also distributed, making it impossible to delete without affecting those dependencies.
Solution:
To resolve the TR024 error, you can take the following steps:
Check Transport Request: Verify the status of the transport request that contains the object. If it has been released and imported into other systems, you may need to manage the transport request accordingly.
Remove from Transport Request: If the object is not needed anymore, you can try to remove it from the transport request. This can be done using transaction SE09 or SE10:
- Open the transport request.
- Find the object in the list.
- Remove it from the request.
Delete in Development System: If you are sure that the object is no longer needed, you can delete it in the development system where it was created. However, ensure that it is not part of any active transport request.
Check Dependencies: If the object has dependencies, you may need to address those first. Identify any dependent objects and ensure they are also handled appropriately.
Consult with Basis Team: If you are unsure about the implications of deleting the object or if it is part of a larger transport strategy, consult with your SAP Basis team or system administrator for guidance.
