Smart SAP Assistant

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message TO079 - Requests are assigned to different projects ?

The SAP error message TO079, which states "Requests are assigned to different projects," typically occurs in the context of transport requests in the SAP system. This error indicates that the transport requests you are trying to include in a single transport operation (like a transport of copies or a release) are associated with different projects or development classes, which is not allowed.

    Cause:

    1. Different Projects: The transport requests belong to different projects or development classes. Each transport request is linked to a specific project, and SAP enforces that only requests from the same project can be processed together.
    2. Transport Layer Issues: The transport layer configuration may not be set up correctly, leading to requests being assigned to different projects inadvertently.
    3. Development Class Assignment: The objects in the transport requests may belong to different development classes, which are tied to different projects.

    Solution:

    1. Check Transport Requests: Review the transport requests you are trying to process. Ensure that they all belong to the same project or development class.
    2. Separate Transport Requests: If the requests are indeed from different projects, you will need to separate them and process them individually.
    3. Reassign Development Class: If applicable, you may need to reassign the development class of the objects in the transport request to ensure they are aligned with the correct project.
    4. Use Transaction SE09/SE10: Use transaction codes SE09 or SE10 to manage transport requests. You can check the details of each request and see which project or development class they are associated with.
    5. Consult with Basis Team: If you are unsure about the project assignments or how to resolve the issue, consult with your SAP Basis team or system administrator for assistance.

    Related Information:

    • Transport Management System (TMS): Understanding how the TMS works in SAP can help you manage transport requests more effectively.
    • Development Classes: Familiarize yourself with how development classes are structured in your SAP environment, as they play a crucial role in transport requests.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that might address specific issues related to transport requests and projects.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the TO079 error and successfully manage your transport requests.
