    System Response

    How to fix this error?

The deletion procedure guarantees that the &SYST-MSGV1& entries that are
displayed as deleted are actually deleted. No further user action is
required for these trace catalog entries.
In the case of undeleted entries, try deleting them again. If the object
is locked, a message is displayed containing the user that is locking
the trace catalog entry. Ask user &SYST-MSGV3& to release the trace
catalog entry and then try deleting it again. If a different problem
occurs during deletion, refresh the list of displayed data in the
transaction and then try deleting again.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message SWF_TRC012 - Deleted &1. Not deleted: &2 locked (user &3), &4 unspecific ?

The SAP error message SWF_TRC012 typically indicates an issue related to workflow management, specifically when trying to delete a workflow task or object that is currently locked by a user or is in an unspecific state. Here’s a breakdown of the components of the error message:

    • Deleted &1: This part indicates the object that was attempted to be deleted.
    • Not deleted: &2 locked (user &3): This indicates that the object (&2) could not be deleted because it is locked by a user (&3).
    • &4 unspecific: This part may refer to an additional status or condition that is not clearly defined.

    Causes

    1. Object Locking: The object you are trying to delete is currently locked by another user. This can happen if the user is currently working on the object or if a previous transaction did not release the lock properly.
    2. Workflow State: The object may be in a state that does not allow deletion, such as being part of an active workflow or having dependencies that prevent it from being deleted.
    3. Authorization Issues: The user attempting to delete the object may not have the necessary permissions to perform the deletion.

    Solutions

    1. Identify the Locking User: Use transaction code SM12 to check for locks in the system. You can search for the user who is locking the object and determine if they can release the lock.
    2. Release the Lock: If the locking user is not actively using the object, they can log off or release the lock manually. If necessary, a system administrator can also remove the lock.
    3. Check Workflow Status: Use transaction code SWI1 or SWI2_FREQ to check the status of the workflow and see if it is active or in a state that prevents deletion. If it is active, you may need to complete or terminate the workflow before attempting to delete the object.
    4. Review Authorizations: Ensure that the user attempting the deletion has the necessary authorizations to delete the object. This may involve checking roles and permissions in the user profile.
    5. Consult Documentation: If the error persists, consult SAP documentation or support for more specific guidance related to the workflow or object in question.
