Message text: Cannot maintain segmentation based seasons data for material &1
Segmentation based seasons data can be maintained only when the
segmentation scope of segmentation strategy is 1, that is, only if both
requirement segment and stock segment are maintained. You cannot
maintain segmentation dependent seasons data when the segmentation scope
is 2, as in this case, only a stock segment is maintained at the variant
level.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
The scope of segmentation strategy must be 1 to maintain segmentation
based seasons data.

- Cannot maintain segmentation based seasons data for material &1 ?The SAP error message SGT_MAIN228 indicates that there is an issue with maintaining segmentation-based seasons data for a specific material. This error typically arises in the context of SAP's Seasonal and Trend Analysis (STA) functionality, which is used for managing seasonal products and their associated data.
Cause:
The error can occur due to several reasons, including:
- Material Not Defined for Segmentation: The material you are trying to maintain may not be defined for segmentation in the system.
- Incorrect Configuration: The segmentation settings or configuration for the material may not be correctly set up.
- Authorization Issues: The user may not have the necessary authorizations to maintain segmentation data for the material.
- Data Inconsistencies: There may be inconsistencies or missing data in the master data related to the material or its segmentation.
- Season Not Defined: The season you are trying to maintain data for may not be defined in the system.
Solution:
To resolve the error, you can take the following steps:
Check Material Definition:
- Ensure that the material is correctly defined for segmentation. You can check this in the material master data (transaction code MM03).
Review Segmentation Configuration:
- Verify the segmentation settings in the configuration. This can be done in the customizing settings (transaction code SPRO) under the relevant sections for segmentation.
Authorization Check:
- Ensure that the user has the necessary authorizations to maintain segmentation data. You may need to consult with your SAP security team to verify this.
Data Consistency Check:
- Check for any inconsistencies in the material master data. Ensure that all required fields are filled out correctly.
