Message text: Cannot assign BOM to plant &1; seg. not fixed or seg. strategy varies
You are assigning a BOM from one plant to another plant. The
segmentation strategies for these plants are different or the
segmentation is not fixed for one of the plants.
Example:
You have created a BOM for PLANT_001. For PLANT_001, the segmentation is
fixed or segmentation strategy is already defined. As the segmentation
is not fixed for PLANT_002 or the segmentation strategy of PLANT_002 is
different from that of PLANT_001<(>,<)> you cannot assign the BOM to
PLANT_002.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
When you assign a BOM from one plant to another, ensure that the
segmentation is fixed for both the plants or the segmentation strategies
are same for both the plants.

SGT_01894
- Cannot assign BOM to plant &1; seg. not fixed or seg. strategy varies ?The SAP error message SGT_01894 indicates that there is an issue with assigning a Bill of Materials (BOM) to a specific plant. The error message specifically states that the segment is not fixed or the segment strategy varies. This typically occurs in the context of SAP's Advanced Planning and Optimization (APO) or in the context of production planning and control.
Cause:
Segment Not Fixed: This means that the BOM segment you are trying to assign is not fixed to a specific plant or production line. In SAP, a BOM can have different segments, and if a segment is not fixed, it cannot be assigned to a plant.
Segment Strategy Varies: This indicates that the strategy for the BOM segment varies, meaning that there are multiple strategies available for the BOM segment, and the system cannot determine which one to use for the plant assignment.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:
Check BOM Configuration:
- Go to the BOM transaction (CS01, CS02, or CS03) and check the BOM for the material in question.
- Ensure that the BOM segments are properly defined and that at least one segment is fixed for the plant you are trying to assign.
Fix the Segment:
- If the segment is not fixed, you may need to fix it by assigning it to the relevant plant. This can usually be done in the BOM configuration settings.
Review Segment Strategy:
- If the segment strategy varies, review the strategies defined for the BOM. You may need to standardize the strategy or ensure that the correct strategy is assigned to the plant.
Check Plant-Specific Data:
- Ensure that the plant-specific data for the material is correctly maintained. This includes checking the material master data and ensuring that the BOM is valid for the specific plant.
Consult Documentation:
- Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for more detailed guidance on BOM configuration and assignment.
Contact SAP Support:
- If the issue persists after checking the above points, consider reaching out to SAP support for further assistance.
Related Information:
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the error and successfully assign the BOM to the desired plant.
