- Object already exists and will be overwritten ?The SAP error message SCWN623, which states "Object already exists and will be overwritten," typically occurs in the context of SAP's transport management system or when dealing with object creation in various modules. This message indicates that you are trying to create or transport an object (like a program, function module, or other development objects) that already exists in the system, and the system is warning you that the existing object will be overwritten.
Cause:
- Duplicate Object: You are attempting to create or transport an object that has the same name as an existing object in the system.
- Transport Request: If you are importing a transport request that contains objects already present in the target system, this message may appear.
- Development Environment: In a development environment, if multiple developers are working on the same object, one developer may have already created the object.
Solution:
- Check Existing Objects: Before creating or transporting an object, check if an object with the same name already exists. You can do this by using transaction codes like SE80 (Object Navigator) or SE11 (Data Dictionary).
- Rename the Object: If you are creating a new object, consider renaming it to avoid conflicts with existing objects.
- Review Transport Requests: If you are importing a transport request, review the contents of the request to see if the object is already present. You may need to adjust the transport request or remove the conflicting object.
- Overwrite Confirmation: If you are sure that you want to overwrite the existing object, you can proceed with the action, but be cautious as this will replace the existing object and may lead to loss of data or functionality.
- Version Control: Implement version control practices to manage changes to objects and avoid conflicts in a multi-developer environment.
