    System Response

An import writes the HDI objects to the file system of the HDI
container. A deletion transport deletes the HDI objects from the file
    system of the HDI container.
Technically, an import of HDI imports involves both HDI ?Write? calls
and HDI ?Delete? calls. If multiple transport requests are imported at
the same time, the last object version of the last request containing
the object is passed to the HDI calls for each object.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message SCTS_HDI203 - Start of import of &1 HDI objects for container &2: &3 ?

The SAP error message SCTS_HDI203 typically occurs during the import of HDI (HANA Deployment Infrastructure) objects into a container in SAP HANA. This error message indicates that there was an issue starting the import process for the specified HDI objects.

    Cause:

The error can be caused by several factors, including but not limited to:

    1. Container Issues: The target container may not be properly configured or may not exist.
    2. Permission Issues: The user executing the import may not have the necessary permissions to perform the operation.
    3. Object Dependencies: There may be dependencies between HDI objects that are not being met, leading to import failures.
    4. Resource Limitations: The HANA database may be running low on resources (memory, disk space, etc.), preventing the import from proceeding.
    5. Version Mismatch: There may be a version mismatch between the HDI objects being imported and the target HANA database version.

    Solution:

To resolve the SCTS_HDI203 error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Container Configuration:

      • Ensure that the target container exists and is properly configured.
      • Verify that the container is in a healthy state and not locked or in a failed state.
    2. Review Permissions:

      • Check the user permissions for the user executing the import. Ensure that the user has the necessary roles and privileges to perform the import operation.
    3. Examine Object Dependencies:

      • Review the HDI objects being imported and check for any dependencies that may not be satisfied. Ensure that all required objects are available in the target container.
    4. Monitor Resource Usage:

      • Check the resource usage of the HANA database. If resources are low, consider optimizing the database or increasing the available resources.
    5. Check Logs for Detailed Errors:

      • Look at the detailed logs for the import process to identify any specific errors or warnings that may provide more context about the failure.
    6. Version Compatibility:

      • Ensure that the HDI objects are compatible with the version of the HANA database you are using. If there is a version mismatch, you may need to update the objects or the database.
    7. Retry the Import:

      • After addressing the above issues, try to re-initiate the import process.
