Message text: Destination &1 is a Unicode system (code page &2)
This maintenance is only allowed for MDMP target systems. However, in
this case the target system is a Unicode system.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Since the target system is a Unicode system, this maintenance is neither
useful nor possible.
In the "Special Options" sections in transaction SM59, set the line
width for this target system to "2 Bytes (Unicode)". As a result, this
maintenance will no longer be possible for the destination.

SCPRFC015
- Destination &1 is a Unicode system (code page &2) ?The SAP error message SCPRFC015 indicates that there is an issue with the communication between SAP systems, specifically related to the character encoding. This error occurs when there is an attempt to connect to a Unicode system (which uses a specific code page) from a non-Unicode system or when there is a mismatch in the expected code pages.
Cause:
- Unicode vs. Non-Unicode Systems: The error typically arises when a non-Unicode SAP system tries to communicate with a Unicode SAP system. Unicode systems use a different character encoding (UTF-8) compared to non-Unicode systems, which can lead to issues in data interpretation.
- Code Page Mismatch: The error message indicates that the destination system is a Unicode system with a specific code page, and the source system is not compatible with that code page.
Solution:
- Check System Compatibility: Ensure that both the source and destination systems are compatible. If you are trying to connect a non-Unicode system to a Unicode system, consider upgrading the non-Unicode system to a Unicode version.
- Adjust RFC Destination Settings:
- Go to transaction
SM59
(RFC Destinations).- Check the settings of the RFC destination that is causing the error.
- Ensure that the destination is correctly configured to handle Unicode communication.
- Use Unicode-Compatible Data: If you must work with both systems, ensure that the data being sent is compatible with Unicode. This may involve converting data formats or ensuring that the data does not contain characters that are not supported in Unicode.
- Update SAP Kernel: Ensure that both systems are running on a compatible version of the SAP kernel that supports Unicode communication.
- Consult SAP Notes: Check the SAP Support Portal for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional guidance.
Related Information:
By addressing the compatibility between Unicode and non-Unicode systems and ensuring proper configuration of RFC destinations, you can resolve the SCPRFC015 error.
