Message text: CCMS monitoring architecture self-monitoring: RFC problems
The monitoring tree element (MTE) associated with this message appears
in the self-monitoring section of the CCMS alert monitor. The MTE
reports on problems with RFCs (Remote Function Calls) that were issued
by the monitoring architecture itself or by methods (programs) that were
run automatically by the monitoring architecture.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
An alert in this MTE indicates that some or all of the monitoring
functionality of the alert monitor is not working. Check the messages
to see if only one or a few methods are affected, or whether general RFC
problems have occurred.
The RFC problems that may occur fall into two classes:
Communication errors occur when the RFC system cannot establish a
connection to the destination application server, system, or external
component.
Use transaction SM59 and the RFC documentation to test and diagnose the
affected RFC destination(s).
Program errors occur when the RFC function cannot be run on the
destination server or external component. Program errors may be due to
simple configuration errors (user for RFC logons not present or does not
have required authorizations). You may be able to correct configuration
errors yourself.
Program errors may also be due to internal program errors, such as
syntax errors, in the RFC function in the destination server or
component. In this case, contact the author of the affected method or
SAP for help in correcting the function.

RT063
- CCMS monitoring architecture self-monitoring: RFC problems ?The SAP error message RT063, which pertains to CCMS (Computing Center Management System) monitoring architecture self-monitoring, indicates that there are issues with Remote Function Call (RFC) connections. This can affect the monitoring capabilities of the system and may lead to problems in communication between different SAP systems or components.
Cause:
The RT063 error can be caused by several factors, including:
- Network Issues: Problems with the network connectivity between the SAP system and the RFC destination.
- RFC Destination Configuration: Incorrect configuration of the RFC destination in transaction
SM59
.- Authorization Issues: The user credentials used for the RFC connection may not have the necessary authorizations.
- System Load: High system load or performance issues can lead to timeouts or failures in establishing RFC connections.
- SAP Kernel Issues: Bugs or issues in the SAP kernel or related components can also lead to RFC problems.
Solution:
To resolve the RT063 error, you can follow these steps:
Check Network Connectivity:
- Ensure that the network connection between the systems is stable and functioning properly. You can use tools like
ping
ortraceroute
to diagnose network issues.Verify RFC Destination:
- Go to transaction
SM59
and check the configuration of the RFC destination that is causing the issue. Ensure that the connection type, target host, and system number are correctly configured.- Test the RFC connection using the "Connection Test" option in
SM59
.Check Authorizations:
- Ensure that the user credentials used for the RFC connection have the necessary authorizations. You can check this in transaction
SU01
for the user profile.Monitor System Performance:
- Check the system performance and load using transaction
ST03N
orSM66
. If the system is under heavy load, consider optimizing performance or scheduling jobs during off-peak hours.Review SAP Notes:
- Check the SAP Support Portal for any relevant SAP Notes that may address known issues with RFC connections or the CCMS monitoring architecture.
Check Logs:
- Review the system logs (transaction
SM21
) and the developer traces (transactionST22
) for any additional error messages or clues related to the RFC issues.Restart Services:
- If the issue persists, consider restarting the affected services or the entire SAP system as a last resort.
