You have to copy the maps manually onto the Internet Graphics Server
(IGS). To do this, you have to copy all of the shapefiles assigned to
the InfoObject to the "data\shapefiles" directory on the IGS. You can
find the list of all shapefiles to be copied in the InfoObject

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSWWW016 - The map information (shapefile) is larger than 8MB ?

The SAP error message RSWWW016 indicates that the map information (shapefile) you are trying to use exceeds the size limit of 8MB. This is a common issue when working with large datasets in SAP systems, particularly in the context of geographic information systems (GIS) or mapping applications.

    Cause:

The primary cause of this error is that the shapefile you are attempting to upload or process is larger than the maximum allowed size of 8MB. Shapefiles are a popular geospatial vector data format used in geographic information system (GIS) software, and they can contain multiple files (e.g., .shp, .shx, .dbf) that together represent geographic features.

    Solution:

To resolve this issue, you can consider the following approaches:

    1. Reduce the Size of the Shapefile:

      • Simplify the Geometry: Use GIS software (like QGIS or ArcGIS) to simplify the geometries in the shapefile. This can significantly reduce the file size while maintaining the essential features.
      • Clip the Data: If the shapefile contains data for a large area, consider clipping it to only include the relevant region you need for your analysis.
      • Generalize the Data: If high precision is not required, you can generalize the data to reduce the number of vertices in the shapes.
    2. Split the Shapefile:

      • If the shapefile contains multiple features or regions, consider splitting it into smaller shapefiles, each under the 8MB limit. This can be done using GIS software.
    3. Use Alternative Formats:

      • If possible, consider using other data formats that may not have the same size limitations or that can be more efficiently processed by SAP.
    4. Check SAP Configuration:

      • In some cases, it may be possible to adjust the configuration settings in SAP to allow for larger file sizes, but this is typically not recommended due to performance considerations.
    5. Consult Documentation:

      • Review the SAP documentation for any specific guidelines or recommendations regarding the handling of shapefiles and map data.

    Related Information:

    • GIS Software: Familiarize yourself with GIS tools like QGIS or ArcGIS, which can help you manipulate and optimize shapefiles.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes or the SAP Community for any updates or patches that may address this issue or provide additional guidance.
    • Performance Considerations: Keep in mind that larger datasets can impact performance, so always aim for the smallest dataset that meets your needs.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the RSWWW016 error and successfully work with your map data in SAP.
